How our birds are raised

My aviary is nestled in the lush green hills of the San Francisco Bay Area, allowing parakeets and parrots to be housed outdoors. The weather in the Bay Area is temperate, but inland valleys freeze during winter, so the birds I raise are safely conditioned for cool weather in the winter and warm days in summer and fall.

All birds are raised outdoors, with the exception of the hand-raised Amazon Parrots, which are lovingly hand-raised indoors after hatching. Parakeets are fed a natural diet of seeds and fresh fruit, and parrots eat nutritious formula pellets and fresh fruit. Hand-fed babies are only sold after they fledge to ensure their health.

Birds can be surgically sexed upon request. Baby birds can have a DNA test performed for an additional charge.

Purchasing Process

The purchasing process begins with you reaching out through the contact form or the number listed on the Contact page. I’ll discuss what breed you are seeking, available inventory, and your experience as a bird owner. During our discussion, I’ll help you understand the purchasing process and set your expectations as a bird owner. I understand purchasing an exotic bird is a significant investment, and I’ll answer any questions you have. I am dedicated to ensuring you have a pleasant purchasing process, and I can provide references upon request.

I sell recently fledged birds, mature birds and breeding pairs. The birds I sell hatch babies from March to late July and are ready for sale between May and December (depending on the breed). Each year the availability of birds changes, but reservations can be made if you desire a particular breed. Reservations require a 20% deposit, which is refundable if we are unable to deliver the bird you ordered.

I don’t sell large quantities of birds into the pet trade. My birds are raised for your enjoyment, and because I run a small operation, I can control operating costs and offer competitive prices. Raising limited quantities also allows me to focus on the health of the birds to ensure customers receive the best value.

Payment and Shipping

I accept payment via PayPal, Walmart Pay, and personal checks, as well as cash for local pickup. For payment by check, please allow 5-6 business days for the check to clear before a shipment will be scheduled. All transactions are final, and I do not accept returns.

I ship birds via Delta Airlines specialized Delta Cargo service, which caters to animals shipped without owners. Shipping costs are in addition to purchase cost and vary based on flight and service required. Shipping costs include an approved carrier, which allows safe shipping of up to four birds. Delta does not allow shipping when the weather is above or below certain temperatures and may include other restrictions. You are responsible for checking with the airline before committing to a purchase.
